400 Hz is a type of frequency within AC electrical power, which is the standard for weapon systems, aerospace and aircraft industries across the world. Aircrafts can not use the 50Hz or 60Hz power coming from the utility supply when on the ground. Airports, hangars and aircraft ships must have access to a 400Hz frequency converter ( ground power unit ) as this is not a standard power. A Ground Power Unit (GPU) is a ground support equipment (GSE) power supply equipment that provides clean power for both maintenance and engine starting aircraft while they are parked on the hangar or runaway. EnSmart Power provides 400 Hz AC GPUs, 28 VDC GPUs or combinations.A DC (Direct Current) GPU is usually ranges from 12 to 24V system and is used for general aircraft, smaller jets and turboprop airplanes.
